WHICH BADMINTON RACKET SHOULD I CHOOSE?

WHICH BADMINTON RACKET SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Below you can read more about which badminton racket is best for you and your game. Unfortunately, we often see that people play with a completely wrong badminton racket compared to what they should play with. We know that many badminton rackets have great designs, but that does not mean that it is the right badminton racket for you.

That's why we've tried to put together this guide so you can read more about what factors you should look at before finding your next or perhaps first badminton racket.

If the guide couldn't help enough, you are ALWAYS welcome to contact us! With our range of +45 badminton racket models and more than 60 variants as well as our many years of experience, we will SURELY find the right badminton racket for you!

WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION

All badminton rackets, regardless of brand, are produced with 3 weight distributions:

  • Head light
  • Even balance
  • Head heavy

The weight distribution in the badminton racket is also what is called the balance of the badminton racket. This is where you choose whether you want a badminton racket with power or a badminton racket with a fast swing speed. You can of course also “mix” both wishes and then you will get an even balance badminton racket.

MAIN POWER - (AXForce rackets)

If you are looking for a badminton racket that can help you add more power to your strokes, you might want to consider looking at a badminton racket with a top-heavy weight distribution. With a top-heavy badminton racket, you achieve the 'hammer effect' as the weight is located at the top of the badminton racket.

HEADLIGHT - (Bladex rackets)

If you are looking for more speed, however, a head-light badminton racket might be the thing for you. Here you compromise more with the power of the strokes, but in return you can add much more speed to the badminton racket swing itself. That is why many doubles players use head-light badminton rackets, as you can get into the fast – often flat – game that is typical in doubles matches.

EVEN BALANCE - (Halbertec rackets)

If you play both singles and doubles and want a combination of head-heavy and head-light weight distribution, there is Even Balance. This means that the weight distribution is even and is therefore a middle ground between head-heavy and head-light weight distribution.

FLEXIBILITY

As with weight distribution, there are also three versions in flexibility.

  • Flexible
  • Medium flexible
  • Rigid

The flexibility of the badminton racket shaft determines how much hitting power or precision you want in your badminton racket. However, you should choose the flexibility of the badminton racket based on your level. Unfortunately, we see far too many people playing with the wrong flexibility in relation to the player's level.

FLEXIBLE

If you are a beginner or relatively new to the sport, we always recommend a badminton racket with a flexible shaft. This means that you get more hitting power and can get length/power in your shots. It is much better to have extra hitting power in your shots than to be able to place the balls accurately.

MEDIUM FLEXIBLE

Have you been playing for up to several years and maybe play tournaments? Then you should read more here! A badminton racket with a medium flexible shaft is one of the most preferred choices and fits 70% of all players. Here you get the flexible shaft, just a little more stiff, which means you can pinpoint the balls a little better without compromising on hitting power.

RIGID

A stiff shaft contributes incredibly to precision and that is why it is primarily experienced/elite players and top players who play and should play with a stiff badminton racket shaft. The reason is that you don't get much "help" in the badminton racket.
